The USPGA

In a low scoring USPGA championship Nigel Dodd's well selected team of Donald, Toms, Scott, Westwood and Zach Johnson was just enough to see him to the top of the USPGA leaderboard.

Scott Pyles was pipped into second place with Steve Stricker's disappointing final round doing the damage to his team.

Paddy Aherne picks up 3rd spot which could have been improved with a better performing main man than Rickie Fowler!

Liam Ryan in 4th spot gets a special mention as the only manager to select a top 3 finisher on his team. Unfortunately Liam's main man Simon Dyson was not at his best this week.

All this means that congratulations go to Yvonne Hughes whose 11th place finish in the USPGA was more than enough to see her extend her lead and secure the top spot on the 4 majors.com leaderboard for 2011. Consistency seems to have been the key to Yvonne's success with finishes of 14th,53rd, 49th and 11th in each of the 4 majors. Well done Yvonne!

Anthony Patterson secures 2nd place overall with Barry Wynne sneaking into 3rd spot.  Anthony and Barry were certainly helped by their strong performances in the US Open where they both finished in the top 3.

Special mention to the FISO Golfers minileague for finishing top of the minileagues for 2011. Well done to all of you!

Thanks to all for taking part and hope to see you all back again next year!

We have some exciting updates planned for 2012 but in the meantime enjoy the rest of the golf in 2011!

The OPEN

Congratulations to Darren Clarke on becoming Northern Irelands 3rd Major winner in just over a year!

Not many people predicted this one; Darren appeared on only 6 teams and only Graham Lambe had the foresight to nominate Darren as his main man. Well done Graham! This was enough to secure Graham the top of the leader board position for The Open and also propel him 356 places up to 122nd overall.

J Golds secured 2nd place for The Open with his selection of Sergio and Rory alongside Darren, and Andrew Broadley grabbed third with Sergio and KJ helping his case.

Overall this result means Yvonne Hughes climbs one position from 2nd to 1st whilst previous leader Anthony Patterson drops 3 places to 4th. James O'Connell jumps 10 places to 2nd and Barry Wynne climbs to 3rd.

The leaderboard is certainly more bunched at this stage and with only one more major to play it's certainly wide open. The field for the USPGA will be updated shortly so check back soon!

US Open

What a display of golf from Northern Irelands Rory McIlroy !

McIlroy, who was third at the Open last year and third in the last two USPGA Championships, now holds the record for the lowest score ever in a US Open. With a record like that you'd imagine our 4majors.com fantasy golf managers would all want him on their team. Apparently not though -  Rory was only the 7th most popular pick overall and was selected main man by only 21 managers. Perhaps his last round in The Masters was still a bit fresh in some of our memories!

Second placed Jason Day, who finished with 45 successive bogey free holes, was the main man on 6 teams appearing on 31 teams in total and has now finished 2nd in the past 2 major championships.

Lee Westwood has now had five top 3 finishes in his last 7 Majors, but victory still eludes him.

Well done to Eugene Costigan who won the US Open round of 4majors fantasy golf. His main man Jason Day sank a vital putt on the last to hold on to 2nd place, with McIlroy, Westwood and Kuchar all contributing to Eugene's team.

2nd placed Barry Wynne not only had Rory as his main man but selected Jason Day and 3rd placed Lee Westwood. Unfortunately Ernie Els and Hunter Mahan did not live up to Barry's expectations. Barry shoots up the overall leaderboard from 340th to 4th.

Phil Mickelson did not perform as well as we all know he his capable and more was expected of world no. 1 Luke Donald, but McIlroy, Day and Westwood did enough work to secure Anthony Patterson 3rd spot. This moves Anthony to the top of the overall leaderboard at the halfway stage.

Yvonne Hughes moves into second spot overall after opening with two solid rounds and Barney Joyce climbs steadily up the leaderboard into 3rd.  Had Barney not been so loyal in selecting Rickie Fowler as his main man two majors in a row who knows how big a lead he could have had?

Declan O'Neill, our leader after the Masters, has slipped 100 places to 101st overall.

It's still all to play for -  see you back in a few weeks for The Open, where Louis Oosthuizen will be defending his title at Royal St George's.

US MASTERS

Wow! Its been a while since we've been treated to such an exiting finish to a major!

In all 8 players selected masters champion Charl Schwarzel on their team however nobody had the foresight to nominate him as their main man.

Well done to Declan O'Nell for winning the Masters round of 4majors.com fantasy golf. Declan selected winner Charl along with 4th placed Luke Donald, 11th placed Justin Rose and 20th placed Martin Laird, the only member of his team to miss the cut was world no. 1 Martin Kaymer!

There was very little to separate 2nd and 3rd positions with Graham Marsden just gaining the edge on Bill Buckley despite his main man Anthony Kim missing the cut.

A special mention must go to Alexander Alipoyo in 32nd place for selecting Adam Scott as his main man - almost a great result for him. In total Adam appeared on 18 teams however Jason Day was not considered worthy of selection by any of our managers!

Comiserations to Rory McIlroy and the many managers on whose team he appeared - sadly for him it wasn't to be his day.

I am sure you'll agree The Masters has left us with plenty to talk about before the US Open tees off in June - see you back then!
